The right product makes all the difference
One of the most common questions we get at Dignity4You is: which product should I start with? And it’s a fair question — because incontinence isn’t one-size-fits-all. What works for someone with occasional light leakage is very different from what’s needed for overnight protection or bedridden care.
This guide matches you to the right product based on your situation. Take a moment to read it — getting this right from the start makes all the difference to your comfort and confidence.
Light leakage — the everyday solution
Light leakage is the most common presentation of stress incontinence. A small amount of urine leaks during coughing, sneezing, laughing, or exercise. It might happen a few times a day, or only occasionally.
Recommended products:
- Ladies Washable Incontinence Panty — absorbs up to 150ml, built-in cotton pad and waterproof layer, looks and feels like regular underwear
- Men’s Washable Incontinence Brief — same absorption and construction as the ladies’ panty, designed for men’s fit
Both are made from 100% cotton, slim-profile, and discreet enough to wear under any clothing. They’re machine washable at 40°C and can be tumble dried.
Moderate leakage — adding extra protection
If you find that the panty or brief alone isn’t quite enough, or if your leakage is a little heavier or more frequent, adding a booster pad gives you extra confidence without changing your whole routine.
Recommended product:
- Cotton Booster Pad (medium, 110x370mm) — placed inside the panty or brief, absorbs an additional 150ml. Made from 100% multi-layer cotton, washable up to 200 times.
The booster pad sits comfortably inside the panty or brief and can be positioned exactly where you need it. It adds absorption without adding bulk.
Heavy leakage and night use — full protection
For heavier incontinence, overnight use, or situations where you need reliable protection for extended periods, the flannelette adult nappy and waterproof pants combination is the most effective solution.
Recommended products:
- Washable Adult Flannelette Nappy — 100% cotton flannelette, absorbs up to 400ml. Velcro adjusters allow for an exact fit. Washable up to 200 times and tumble dryable at full heat.
- Adult Pull-On Waterproof Pants or Press Stud Waterproof Pants — worn over the nappy. Made from 100% polyester, breathable, waterproof to 3m pressure, sand-coloured for discretion under clothing.
- Large Cotton Booster Pad (160x470mm) — worn inside the flannelette nappy for up to 700ml combined absorption. Ideal for overnight use.
The nappy must always be worn with either the pull-on or press stud waterproof pants. The combination is what creates a reliable, leak-free system.
Bedridden or mobility-limited care
If you’re caring for someone who is bedridden or has limited mobility, the fitting process is different. The press stud waterproof pants were specifically designed for this situation.
Recommended products:
- Washable Adult Flannelette Nappy — can be fitted and adjusted while the person is lying down
- Adult Press Stud Waterproof Pants — fastens with press studs rather than pulling on, making it easy to fit someone lying flat
- Dignity4You Waterproof Fitted Sheet — provides a secondary layer of protection for the bed, preventing linen changes during the night
The press stud design is a detail that makes a real difference to caregivers. It removes the need to lift or reposition the patient fully just to change protection.

How to get the right size
Every Dignity4You product comes with a size chart based on hip measurement. The best fit is when your hip measurement falls as close to the centre of the sliding scale as possible. A well-fitting product performs significantly better — so it’s worth taking a moment to measure before you order.
If you’re still unsure, email us at admin@dignity4you.com and we’ll help you choose. We’d rather you get it right the first time.
Frequently asked questions
Q: Can I wear the waterproof pants on their own, without a nappy?
A: The waterproof pants are designed to be worn over the panty, brief, or flannelette nappy — they provide the outer waterproof layer, not the absorbent layer. For light leakage, the panty or brief alone is sufficient. For heavier leakage, the nappy and waterproof pants are used together.
Q: How do I know if I’m between sizes?
A: If your hip measurement falls between two sizes, choose the larger size for a more comfortable fit. The Velcro adjusters on the flannelette nappy allow for fine-tuning once you have the product.
Q: Can the booster pad be used with any brand of incontinence underwear?
A: The medium booster pad is designed for use with the Dignity4You ladies’ panty and men’s brief. The large booster pad is designed for use with the Dignity4You flannelette nappy. They can also be used with other brands, but fit and performance is optimised with the Dignity4You range.
